Jonathan McGurgan

Jonathan McGurgan has extensive experience in the field of security and regulatory compliance. Jonathan most recently worked at Ofgem as a Regulatory Security Assurance Senior. Prior to that, they worked at the Office for Nuclear Regulation as a Civil Nuclear Security & Safeguards Inspector, where they conducted compliance inspections and permissioning activities on nuclear licensed sites. Jonathan also worked at The Co-operative Bank plc as a Security Analyst, where they were responsible for fraud mitigation and the development of financial crime detection strategies. Jonathan also has experience in security operations, having worked at Shop Direct and SHADOW CONSULTANCY SERVICES LIMITED. Jonathan has also worked at the City of London Police as a Security Analyst, where they advised on fraud detection methodologies and enforcement opportunities.

Jonathan McGurgan attended Liverpool John Moores University from 2004 to 2008, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business. In 2019, they completed a program called SANS 410 ICS/ SCADA Security Essentials at the SANS Technology Institute. In terms of certifications, they hold various qualifications. Some of their certifications include ISO 27001 Lead Auditor - Information Security Certification from PECB (obtained in May 2022), Registration for IT Technicians (RITTech) from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT (obtained in September 2021), and NCSC Certified Cyber Professional (CCP): IA Auditor from the National Cyber Security Centre (obtained in March 2021). Jonathan also holds multiple certifications from CompTIA, such as CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+), Cyber Security Analytics Professional (CSAP), CompTIA Network+, IT Operations Specialist - CIOS Stackable Certification, and Secure Infrastructure Specialist - CSIS Stackable Certification. Additionally, they are a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) from ISACA, holds the Certificate in Information Security Management Principles (CISMP) from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, and has certifications in Security+, A+, and Cyber Security from CompTIA. Jonathan has obtained various other certifications related to governance, risk assessment, occupational health and safety, sanctions risk management, and membership in professional organizations.
