Liam Bennett

Liam Bennett is an experienced professional in the energy sector, currently serving as Head of Energy System Digitalisation at Ofgem since September 2019, and previously holding roles such as Senior Manager in Data Policy and Regulation and Policy Advisor in the Innovation Link team. Prior to Ofgem, Liam worked as a Graduate Analyst at BHP Chartered Accountants and as a Data Entry Operator at The University of Sheffield, where Liam also completed a PhD in Energy Storage, focusing on the challenges of low-carbon domestic heating in the UK. Liam's early career included tutoring for The Brilliant Club and working as a Research Scientist at Johnson Matthey on Cathode Materials for lithium-ion batteries, after initially interning with the same company. Academic qualifications include an MSc in Energy Storage from The University of Sheffield and a Bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences with a focus on Analytical Chemistry from the University of Leeds.
