Paul O'Brien

International Engagement at Ofgem

Paul O'Brien has an extensive work history in various communication and policy roles. Paul started their career as a Communications Assistant at Balfour Beatty plc in 2009 and worked there until 2012. In 2013, they joined Scottish Water as an Internal Communications Manager on a contract basis before moving to SSE plc later that year. At SSE plc, they served as Acting Head of Group Media and previously as a Media Manager until 2018. From 2018 to 2021, they worked at The Scottish Government in the Media department and later in the Homelessness policy unit. In 2020, they joined Citizens Advice Scotland as a Board Director for the Drumchapel branch. Currently, Paul O'Brien is working at Ofgem in roles related to Public Affairs and International Engagement, starting in 2021.

Paul O'Brien attended Glasgow Caledonian University from 2002 to 2005, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance. Paul then continued their education at the same university from 2005 to 2009, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies.
