Robin Hughes has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and industries. Starting in 2007, Robin worked as a Customer Advisor at R&A Hughes for eight years. In 2015, Robin joined Primark Stores Limited as a Customer Service Representative and Stock Room Supervisor, responsible for managing stock and maintaining relationships with external companies. In 2017, Robin embarked on entrepreneurial ventures, co-founding Taapit and founding Klein&Lille, an e-commerce project specializing in home lighting. In 2018, Robin pursued a career in software development, enrolling in a coding bootcamp called CodeClan and completing a 16-week course. During this time, Robin gained experience developing a Careers Service App. Robin continued to enhance their technical skills with volunteer software developer internships at Curious Chip and MYFLAG in 2019. Finally, in 2020, Robin joined Ofgem as a Junior Automation Engineer, primarily focusing on C#, Asp. Net, Specflow, Selenium, and automation testing. They later progressed to the role of Automation Engineer, gaining additional experience in Agile, Azure DevOps, SQL, and Azure DevOps pipelines.

Robin Hughes completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology with Biotechnology from the University of Glasgow between 2009 and 2014. Prior to this, from 2004 to 2009, Robin attended Shawlands Academy for their secondary education. In 2018 and 2019, Robin undertook the CodeClan Professional Software Development Bootcamp, focusing on software development.
