Alex Whitmarsh

Alex Whitmarsh is a seasoned Principal Economist with extensive experience in economic advisory roles across various sectors. They began their career as an Assistant Economist at the Department for Transport before serving as an Economic Advisor at Defra and the UK Ministry of Defence. Between 2011 and 2015, they worked at Ofgem as a Senior Economist, followed by key positions at Ofwat, including Associate Director on a temporary promotion. Currently, Alex holds the position of Principal Economist, Head of PR24 Data at Ofwat, having been involved in leadership roles in charging, retail, and price controls throughout their career. They earned an M.Sc. with Distinction in Economics from the University of Essex and a B.Sc. with First Class Honours from Royal Holloway, University of London.
