Tony Oakes is a partner at Ogier's Hong Kong office and heads the firm’s finance practice in Asia. They provide BVI and Cayman legal advice on various financing transactions and restructurings, with a strong emphasis on corporate work including mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions. Recognized as one of the top 10 offshore lawyers in Asia by Asian Legal Business, Tony has been consistently acknowledged in prestigious legal rankings and has played a key role in landmark finance transactions, such as Indonesia's national airline's US$500 million sukuk. Prior to joining Ogier in 2014, they worked as a consultant at Clifford Chance LLP from 2000 to 2012 and studied Mandarin at Beijing Language & Culture University in 2013. Tony is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Economics and a Certificate of Legal Practice while being fluent in English and Mandarin.
