Helena Peña

Helena Peña is an accomplished Data Scientist with extensive experience in machine learning and natural language processing. Currently at OLX Group since July 2021, Helena focuses on developing ML models for content moderation across diverse markets and languages, automating model explainability reporting, and evaluating experimental model impacts. Previously at upday for Samsung from June 2018 to June 2021, Helena specialized in NLP features for streaming news and personalized content, while also managing multilingual news classification and user segmentation for targeted advertising. Helena started as a Junior Data Scientist at upday, focusing on data mining user segments. Early career experience includes an Associate Consultant role at Sopra Steria Consulting working on Business Intelligence for a German bank. Helena holds a PhD in Mathematics (magna cum laude) and a Diplom in Biomathematics from Universität Greifswald, where Helena also served as a lecturer.
