Don Peat

Don Peat is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in media relations and strategic issues management. Currently serving as Director of Media Relations and Issues Management at OMERS since December 2023, Peat previously held the role of Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the Mayor for the City of Toronto, where responsibilities included providing strategic guidance and managing communication efforts. Peat spent several years as Executive Director of Communications and Strategic Issues Management for Mayor John Tory, overseeing all communications and public events. Prior experience includes positions at the Toronto Sun as Assistant City Editor and City Hall Bureau Chief, as well as earlier roles in reporting and editing for various publications. Peat holds a Master of Arts in Journalism from Western University and a Bachelor of Arts in English and History from Huron University.
