Julia Solano

Fellow, Exploration & Future Sensing at Omidyar Network

Julia Solano is a Fellow at Omidyar Network, where they focus on identifying new signals and trends in society, testing novel funding structures that support diverse entrepreneurs, community leaders, and activists, and creating immersive experiences that reimagine the future of our relationship with hyperconnected technology.

Previously, Julia was a Bamboo Builder at Bamboo DNA, where they specialized in the design, construction, and installation of bamboo structures and environments. Julia was part of the build team that built 7 bamboo structures for Lightning in a Bottle, a music and cultural festival held in Bakersfield, California.

Before their work at Bamboo DNA, Julia was at Omidyar Network for two years. During their first year there, they co-architected the Community Infrastructure Fund for Mutual Aid and managed relationships with grantees such as Future Centre (crowdsourced futures platform) by Forum for the Future and Superflux.

Julia Solano has a Master of Architecture from UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design, and their focus is in architecture. Julia also has a degree in design through engineering + architecture from University of California, Berkeley. Additionally, they have a degree in design and entrepreneurship from TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology. Julia is also a certified social entrepreneurship fellow from the Hansen Summer Institute and has certificates in CET entrepreneurship and technology, and human-centered design from UC Berkeley.

Their manager is Mike Kubzansky, CEO. They are on a team with Alexis Krieg - Senior Manager, Strategic Communications, Anthony Sandrik - Global Head of Talent, and David Hsu - Fellow, Exploration & Future Sensing.
