David Darby

David Darby possesses extensive experience in the energy and resources sector, currently serving in Engagement & Regulatory Affairs at OMV since July 2023. Previously, David held various management and director roles at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, overseeing energy programmes and sector engagement from July 2021 to July 2023. David's background includes significant contributions as Private Secretary for Energy & Resources in the New Zealand Parliament and leadership positions focusing on commercial analysis in the Energy & Resource Markets Branch. Prior experience includes technical and leadership roles at Maersk Oil, Ikon Science, and GNS Science, with a strong foundation in geology and geoscience through advanced education at the University of Glasgow. David earned a PhD in Petroleum Geology and a BSc in Applied Geology, and has developed a diverse skill set in software development, project management, and strategic marketing throughout a distinguished career.
