Jonathan Barsema

Jonathan Barsema currently serves as the Head of the Intellectual Property Rights Department at OMV, having assumed the role in November 2023. Prior to this, Jonathan Barsema held various positions at Shell from February 2004 to October 2023, including Managing Counsel for Patents and Trade Secrets in Europe, where the management of a regional team focused on providing comprehensive IP support. Additional roles included Managing Counsel for IP Chemicals, overseeing global teams, and serving as an IP Counsel and European Patent Attorney with experience in patent drafting, prosecution, and IP agreements. Jonathan Barsema earned a PhD in Chemical Technology from the University of Twente, alongside further education in patent law and technology.
