Michael Sauer

Michael Sauer is currently the Head of the Department of Biotechnology at OMV AG, where they focus on re-inventing essentials for sustainable living. With extensive experience in industrial microbiology, Michael has held various roles, including Key Researcher at ACIB GmbH and Associate Professor at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. They obtained a postdoctoral position at Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, working on a project to produce vitamin C using bakers yeast. Michael's expertise spans sustainable chemical production, metabolic engineering, and microbial stress and strain robustness. Additionally, they serve as the President of the ÖGMBT and are a member of the Board of Trustees for the Federation of European Microbiological Societies.
