Maureen Abel is a climate and sustainability researcher, linguist, and advocate for indigenous knowledge. Currently pursuing an MPhil in African Studies at the University of Cambridge, Maureen's research focuses on climate change, environmental justice, and indigenous languages in the Niger Delta. They have co-founded the Opportunities Unlock program and serve as a 2025 Contact Point for the UNFCCC YOUNGO, promoting cultural integration in climate action. With a strong background in linguistics, Maureen has also held roles in business development and education, and supports various initiatives aimed at sustainable development and youth empowerment.
