Larry James is a retired Lt. Gen. of the USAF and currently serves as a Strategic Advisor for the SmartSat Cooperative Research Centre in Adelaide, Australia, and as a Professor of Practice in Space Innovation at Monash University in Melbourne. Appointed to these roles in June 2024, they provide advocacy and technical support for R&D efforts and contribute to aerospace education and engagement. Previously, they held the position of Deputy Director at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory from 2013 to 2024, overseeing extensive operations in space exploration and science. Additionally, they were the Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance, responsible for crucial policy formulation and leadership in intelligence capabilities. James earned a Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Air Force Academy and a Master of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
