The Open Book Collective (OBC) is a UK-based charity bringing together open access publishers, publishing service providers, and scholarly libraries to secure a more diverse and sustainable future for open access book publishing.

We operate as a member-governed, not-for-profit collective, ensuring transparency, equity, and collaboration remain at the heart of everything we do. Through our Supporter Programmes, libraries and institutions around the world can directly support presses and infrastructures that make open access books possible without relying on book processing charges.

Founded through the COPIM and Open Book Futures projects, the OBC works closely with partners such as Thoth Open Metadata, Open Book Publishers, Jisc, and others across the global open access ecosystem. Together, we’re developing practical, values-driven solutions for sustaining open, public knowledge.
