Benson Chang

Benson Chang is a seasoned finance professional currently serving as the Director of Finance for Strategic Initiatives at OpenAI since June 2025. Prior to this role, Benson held several key positions at X, the moonshot factory, where responsibilities included serving as Controller and Head of Compliance and Finance Operations, as well as leading Finance Operations and Compliance efforts for multiple Alphabet startup companies. Benson's previous experience includes working at Google in various finance management roles related to compliance and vendor management, and leading YouTube's risk management and compliance programs. Early career experiences were shaped at KPMG, focusing on financial risk consulting, and at J.P. Morgan as an MBA intern. Benson holds an MBA in Finance from Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from UCLA.
