Zak Weiler

Zak Weiler is a professional with extensive experience in technology development and program management. Currently serving as a Member of Program Staff at OpenAI since March 2025, Zak has also held a leadership position as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Reserve since May 2018, where responsibilities include leading a team of analysts for decision-making support in the Indo-Pacific region. Prior to OpenAI, Zak worked at SRI International from May 2013 to March 2025, where roles included Director of Business Development and Commercial R&D, Senior Solutions Architect, Business Development Manager, and Senior Analyst, successfully managing teams, driving innovative projects, and negotiating contracts that resulted in significant commercial value. Zak holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UC San Diego, where participation included serving as a Resident Advisor and involvement in the Student Fee Advisory Committee.
