OpenCouncil is an AI platform for local governance that makes city council meetings accessible and understandable to citizens. We transform complex council meetings into engaging, easy-to-understand content through automatic transcription and automatic generation of social media content like TikToks, Reels, and podcasts. 

Our approach is to bring local governance directly to citizens' phones: we send personalized WhatsApp/SMS updates about council decisions affecting their specific streets and neighborhoods. By meeting citizens where they are—on social media and messaging apps—we are building bridges between citizens and their local government, one message at a time.

OpenCouncil operates under steward ownership principles, and is a for-profit entity fully owned by the non-profit Schema Labs. We view profit as a means to sustain ourselves and achieve our purpose.
