Phil Nelson has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Phil has worked at OpenCV since 2021, starting as a Content Manager before becoming the Director of Content and Creative. In these positions, they have been responsible for administrative duties, such as pitches, SOWs, and grant proposals, as well as writing and booking newsletters, blog posts, game shows, competitions, and webinars. Additionally, they have been involved in graphic design, video production, and creative direction.
Prior to their current role, Phil worked at Extra Future from 2007 onwards, where they served as a Design Engineer and Video Producer. As a sole proprietor, they specialized in clean designs with standards-based HTML5, Javascript, CSS, Python, and Postgres. Phil also undertook various client projects, including app and website design, flow diagrams, database design, crowdfunding campaigns, and streaming event consulting. Additionally, Phil has experience in video content creation, logo design, print materials, packaging, and high-quality product renders.
From 2013 to 2020, Phil worked at Occipital, starting as a Front-End Engineer and eventually becoming a Senior UX Engineer. In these roles, they had proactive control over the user experience within the company. Phil'sresponsibilities included implementing and designing websites, scripting, shooting and editing video content, and playing a major role in the launch of four products. Phil also contributed to the creation of internal design systems, UX flows, and team culture development.
Other notable roles include working as a Developer at StoreFront Consulting, Inc. in 2012, a Developer at Fight For The Future from 2011 to 2012, and a Developer at Brand-Yourself.com from 2009 to 2011. At Brand-Yourself.com, they were heavily involved in building and maintaining a user-based personal branding portal and leading accessibility initiatives.
Earlier in their career, Phil served as a Producer at SWEATSHOP.tv from 2009 to 2011, a Lead Developer at Star Marketing Group, LLC from 2006 to 2007, and a Programmer at Fish Marketing, Inc. from 2004 to 2006.
