Greg Kerr

Greg Kerr has a diverse work experience in various software engineering roles. Greg is currently working at Opener as the Director of Software Engineering since November 2021. Prior to this, they served as an Engineering Manager for Software & Controls at Opener from September 2018 to November 2021. Before joining Opener, Greg worked as a Software Engineer at Opener from May 2016 to September 2018.

In 2015, Greg worked as a Firmware Engineering Intern at Tesla Motors, where they focused on firmware development, BLE communication, and python tools. Greg also improved the design and behavior of Body Controls components for the Model X.

Greg also has experience working at CAST Software, where they held the position of BlackTrax Software Developer from January 2015 to May 2015. In this role, they proposed and implemented a system for remote configuration of embedded devices and took full responsibility for the project.

In 2014, Greg worked as a C++ Developer at OANDA, where they were a member of the transaction execution team. Greg was responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining backend trading infrastructure. Greg also worked on critical projects, including the design of a highly invasive upgrade to core system components.

Prior to that, Greg worked at Cast Software as a BlackTrax Expert from May 2013 to August 2013. In this role, they assisted in system engineering, design of features, hardware, communication protocols, algorithms, and software architecture. Greg also traveled outside Canada to assist in the first permanent installation of the system and train clients.

Earlier in their career, Greg worked at Cineplex Entertainment as a Programmer/Analyst. Greg designed and implemented web pages on the internal SharePoint-based portal and participated in larger projects, including the development of Windows applications for publicly used kiosks in theaters. Greg gained experience with SQL and MDX databases and data analysis.

Greg Kerr completed their secondary education at Mayfield Secondary School from 2007 to 2011. From 2011 to 2016, they attended the University of Waterloo and earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Computer Engineering.
