Chief Executive Officer at OpenLight

Adam Carter has been working in the technology industry since 1989. Adam began their career at BT@D as a Device Engineer for III-V Semiconductors. Adam then moved to Hewlett Packard Enterprise as Asia Pacific and Japan Sales and Business Development. After that, they worked at Agilent Technologies as Strategic Marketing for Fiber Optic Components and Product Manager for High Speed Transceivers. In 2006, they worked at Avago Technologies as a Director of MARKETING. After that, they went to Cisco and held two roles, General Manager of the Transceiver Module Group and Marketing Manager. Adam then moved to OCLARO as Chief Commercial Officer, where they transformed a loss making company to making +10% Operating Income/Qtr in 16 quarters. This led to the company being acquired by Lumentum Holdings for $1.85Bn in Dec 2018. After that, they moved to Foxconn Optical Interconnect as Chief Commercial Officer, where they developed a new GTM plan for the Group and a Strategic Plan that led to the divestment of the group to Broadcom in Dec 2019. Most recently, they have been the Chief Executive Officer at OpenLight since 2023.

Adam Carter obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Applied Physics from the University of Portsmouth between 1982 and 1986. Adam then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Dry Processing of III-V Semiconductors at Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd between 1986 and 1989. Additionally, Adam Carter has obtained a certification in Preventing Workplace Harassment from Emtrain.
