Raphaela Cassandra has worked in the technology industry since 2013, when they began as a Software Engineer and QA Engineer at OpenPath Products. From 2011 to 2013, they were a Communications Specialist for the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Program at the United States Naval Academy, where they managed and maintained the program's website, updated and monitored social media platforms, and designed and wrote program publications. In 2010, they were awarded funding to pursue an internship in astronomy at the United States Naval Observatory, where they defined a sample of good astrometric QSO sources, conducted photometric ground-based observing, and presented their work at weekly internal meetings.
Raphaela Cassandra attended St. John's College from 2006 to 2010 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History of Mathematics and Science. Raphaela then attended Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering from 2017 to 2022 and obtained a Master of Science in Computer Science.
