Andrew Birch

Co-founder and CEO at OpenSolar

Andrew Birch has extensive experience in the solar industry, beginning with their role as Equities at Cazenove in 1997. In 2001, they became a Vice President at Bear Stearns, followed by a Business Development Manager at BP Solar in 2004. In 2007, they co-founded and became the CEO of Sungevity. In 2017, they became a Strategic Advisor for the Recovery and Development Agency of the Government of the Virgin Islands (BVI), and also co-founded OpenSolar and became its CEO. In addition, they co-chaired the SolarAPP Campaign, an initiative to address the problem of residential solar costs in the US.

Andrew Birch completed a MEngSc in Photovoltaics at UNSW in 2004. Prior to this, they obtained a BSc (hons) in Physics from the University of St Andrews. Andrew also spent a year studying MSc Physics at the University of Oxford. Additionally, they are a member of The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (The CISI).
