John Berg

John Berg is a Lead Software Engineer at New Relic, Inc., focusing on the OpenTelemetry project in the Java space since November 2020. Berg also serves as a Senior Software Engineer and Java SDK Maintainer for OpenTelemetry since April 2021. As the Technical Founder of Global Petals LLC, from January 2012 to May 2022, Berg designed and developed a web platform to facilitate direct purchases of flowers from international growers. Prior to this, Berg was a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Uptake, where system rearchitecture enabled high throughput for timeseries telematics data. Furthermore, Berg held technical leadership roles at Somni, contributing to sleep health solutions, and participated in Allstate's Leadership Development Program, focusing on online analytics. Berg holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, earned in 2013.
