Marcie Barnes has over 15 years of experience in user experience design and management. Marcie has worked with various companies and projects ranging from Fortune 500 technology companies to early startups. Marcie has expertise in software design for sectors such as financial, legal, regulatory, HR, and education. Marcie currently works as a UX Consultant and Manager specializing in these sectors. Prior to their current role, they served as a Principal UX Design Manager at Optum. Marcie also has experience as a Senior User Experience Designer at WebAssign and as a Freelance Digital Project Manager & Designer. Marcie started their career at SAS, where they worked as a Design Specialist & Online Project Manager, responsible for proposing, wireframing, designing, testing, and implementing user interfaces for web-based applications across various disciplines. Marcie also managed the entire lifecycle of projects using waterfall methodology.

Marcie Barnes earned a BA in Art/Graphic Design from Meredith College, where they studied from 1990 to 1995. In 2007, they attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and obtained a Professional Certificate from their Journalism School, specializing in Technology & Communication, completing their studies in 2009. In addition to their formal education, Marcie has obtained several certifications, including an Enterprise Design Thinking Practitioner certification from IBM in January 2023, as well as certifications in Agile Instructional Design, Design & Development Workflow with Framer X, and UX for Voice: Planning and Implementation, all obtained from LinkedIn in September 2021.
