Guo-Jun Qi is an esteemed Professor and Adjunct Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Westlake University, where Qi directs the Machine Perception and Learning (MAPLE) Lab, focusing on AI and Deep Learning applications. Currently serving as the Founding Managing Director and Dean of the OPPO Seattle Research Center since April 2021, Qi has played a crucial role in establishing the center and leading R&D efforts in multimodal content understanding and generation. In addition to these roles, Qi is the Chief Scientist and Technical Vice President at Futurewei Technologies, overseeing cloud computing services and projects related to Smart Cities and Autonomous Driving. Qi's academic journey includes serving as a faculty member and MAPLE Lab director at the University of Central Florida, alongside previous positions at IBM, the National University of Singapore, and Microsoft Research Asia. Qi holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, along with degrees in Pattern Recognition and Machine Intelligence and Automation from the University of Science and Technology of China.
