Principal Software Engineer at OptaSense

Simon Watson has worked for a variety of companies in the software engineering field since 1994. Theirfirst role was as Chief Engineer at Thales Underwater Systems. Simon then moved to Ultra Electronics Sonar Systems in 2006, where they worked as a Software Engineer. In 2007, they joined Serco Assurance as a Senior Software Engineer, working on Computer Based Training (CBT) for Sonar 2076. In 2009, they returned to Ultra Electronics Sonar Systems as a Software Engineer, developing in C++ and Java. In 2010, they joined Egdon Software as Director/Software Engineer, and also OptaSense Ltd as Principal Software Engineer, where they were responsible for enhancing and maintaining products, developing, implementing, testing and installing new algorithms, and leading a team of engineers using Agile/Scrum techniques.

Simon Watson received a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Science from Durham University between 1981 and 1984. Simon then went on to pursue a PGCE in Education at the University of Bath from 2004 to 2005.
