Karl Floersch

Karl Floersch has a diverse work experience in various companies and roles. Karl is currently the Chief Executive Officer at OP Labs since May 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a cto at OP Labs from January 2020 to May 2023, where they focused on scaling Ethereum with layer 2 and creating market incentives for open source software creation.

Before joining OP Labs, Karl worked at the Ethereum Foundation as a Researcher from September 2017 to January 2020. In this role, they contributed to core research on consensus protocols and scaling, gave numerous talks, and shipped the alpha Proof of Stake (PoS) on Ethereum testnet.

Karl also has experience as a Blockchain Engineer at ConsenSys from February 2016 to September 2017 and as a Frontend Developer at 3Rings Media from January 2014 to January 2016. At Citi, they worked as a Summer Technology Analyst in 2015, where they designed a system to trace order history and path, collaborated with global teams to establish standard usage for ELK Stack, and maintained an internal Citi forum for ELK Stack development. Additionally, they gained experience as a Software Engineering Intern at Riverbed Technology in 2014.
