Matthew Gane

Matthew Gane is a seasoned compliance professional with extensive experience in surveillance and regulatory compliance within the financial services sector. Currently serving as the Global Head of Surveillance, Monitoring and Algo Trading Compliance at Optiver since May 2023, Matthew oversees critical compliance functions at a leading market maker. Previously, Matthew was Co-head of the EMEA FICC Compliance team at Goldman Sachs from May 2013 to April 2023, where responsibilities included managing teams addressing various regulatory changes, including MAR, EMIR, MiFID II, and Brexit. Additionally, Matthew held a compliance role focused on Emerging Markets at Barclays Corporate & Investment Bank from January 2010 to May 2013. Academic qualifications include a Master of Laws in Public Law from UCL and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Essex, along with a Diploma in Investment Compliance from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.
