John O'Donnell

John O'Donnell has extensive work experience in various finance and leadership roles. John most recently served as the Chief Financial Officer for Optos since September 2022. Prior to that, they held the positions of Group Finance Director & Company Secretary from January 2019 to September 2022, Vice President of Finance - Group & International from July 2016 to January 2019, and Vice President of Finance - International from October 2013 to July 2016. John started their career at Optos as a Financial Controller from April 2012 to October 2013.

Before joining Optos, John worked at PRG, where they served as the Chief Executive from March 2011 to December 2011 and as the Chief Financial Officer from June 2008 to July 2011. Prior to that, they worked as the Director of Finance & Operations at AGSM from 2007 to 2008.

John also has previous experience as a BPR Consultant at the University of New South Wales from December 2006 to 2008 and as Executive Director, Commercial Division at The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland from November 2001 to December 2006. Their earlier experience includes a role as the Group Accounting Manager at Enterprise Rent-A-Car from 1999 to 2002.

John O'Donnell's education history begins in 1990 when they attended Perth High School. John then went on to study at UHI from 1995 to 1997, where they obtained an HND in Accounting & Finance. Following this, from 1997 to 1998, they enrolled in the Assoc. of Chartered Certified Accountants and earned the FCCA degree in Accountancy. Finally, in 2001 and 2002, they pursued further education at the Assoc. of Chartered Certified Accountants, specializing in International Accounting Standards & Audit Practice and earning a DipIFRA degree.
