Derek Purvis

Derek Purvis has extensive experience in the healthcare sector, currently serving as Senior Vice President for Health Plans at Optum since March 2023, after previously holding the title of Vice President in the same department. Prior roles include Executive Director of Benefit Operations at CVS Health, where Derek led pharmacy benefits implementation for various health plan clients. Derek also has a strong background in leadership and operations at Optum, including roles as National Co-Chair of the Black Colleague Resource Group and Vice President of Operations and Product Innovation. Additional experience includes being Chief of Staff for OptumCare Operations and Director of Provider Data Management. Prior to Optum, Derek worked at Wipro Limited and Cigna, focusing on Medicare operations and program management. Derek earned a degree from the University of Louisiana Monroe.
