Ed Bowen, PhD, is currently the Senior Vice President and Head of OptumAI, leading an innovative team in leveraging healthcare data to transform the health system. With over 30 years of experience in AI/ML and data platforms across various sectors, Ed has built a reputation as a strategic leader and expert in life sciences. Previously, Ed served as Vice President of AI & Machine Learning at GSK, where they advanced machine learning strategies for drug development. Ed's early career includes serving as an Officer in the U.S. Coast Guard, where they managed operational missions and led a team of personnel. Ed holds multiple degrees, including a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Miami.
