Ryan Swan

Ryan Swan, PhD, is currently the Director of Data Science - AI/ML at Optum, where they leverage machine learning to develop solutions in medical natural language processing. With a decade of experience in implementing machine learning algorithms and performing statistical analyses, Ryan has previously held roles such as Senior Software Engineer and Data Scientist across various organizations, including Westcott Multimedia and Hack for LA. They earned a PhD in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology from Oregon Health and Science University, focusing on network science principles in genetic disease prediction. In addition to their extensive technical skills, Ryan continually engages with the data science community, mentoring emerging professionals and fostering collaborative projects.
