David Baxter

David Baxter is a Senior Member of Technical Staff at Oracle, focusing on the compute team at OCI since August 2025. Prior to that, David spent over 27 years at Cycorp as a Natural Language Processing Programmer and Ontologist, where responsibilities included developing compositional parsers and leading a natural-language generation effort. David also served as an instructor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, teaching Korean language classes and Introduction to Linguistics. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a B.A. in Korean language and literature from Seoul National University, a B.Mus. in Cello performance from Indiana University Bloomington, and a High School Diploma in Cello performance from Interlochen Arts Academy.
