Gero Gunkel is an experienced professional in the fields of artificial intelligence and automation, with a significant background in financial services and insurance. Gunkel contributed as a member of the Working Group on The Future of AI and Automation in Financial Services at the World Economic Forum from 2017 to 2020. Previously, Gunkel served as an Automation Program Manager and Strategic Project Lead at Zurich Insurance Company Ltd from March 2015 to July 2016, before becoming the Chief Operating Officer and Head of Product Development & Commercialisation at ZCAM, a Zurich Insurance-owned data insights start-up. In this role, Gunkel focused on building a portfolio of AI/ML-enabled data use cases for global scaling across multiple continents. Currently, Gunkel holds the position of Global Head of Artificial Intelligence and Senior Director at Oracle since March 2025.
