Steve Chessin is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in software engineering and political activism. Currently serving as a Senior Principal Software Engineer at Oracle since February 2010, Steve has a long-standing commitment to public service as the President of Californians for Electoral Reform since 2001 and as a member of both the State Central Committee and the Executive Board of the California Democratic Party since 1986. Prior to Oracle, Steve held the position of Distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems from 1988 to 2010 and began a career in programming at IBM from 1972 to 1987. Educationally, Steve earned a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley, between 1973 and 1983, and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1968 to 1972.
