Senior Assembly, Integration and Test Engineer at Orbex Space

Vaidotas V. has a diverse work experience across different industries. Vaidotas started their career as an Operations Officer at School Trends Ltd in 2015 and returned to the same role in 2016. In 2016, they also worked as a Mechanical Engineer Year in Industry at Transport for London. From 2015 to 2018, Vaidotas served as the Team leader of the Steering, Wheels, and Brakes team at Sheffield Eco Motorsports, where they played a crucial role in the design of an electric car for a competition.

In 2018, Vaidotas joined Transport for London as a Mechanical Engineer in the System Performance & Integration team, where they handled various responsibilities, including producing CAD models, generating meshes for CFD simulations, and running simulations using different software.

Vaidotas further enhanced their mechanical engineering skills by joining Rolls-Royce in 2019. During their tenure, they worked as a Mechanical Engineer and then shifted to the position of Performance Engineer in the Adour military turbofan engine after-market team. Vaidotas was responsible for ensuring the in-service performance of several hundred Adour turbofan engines installed in military aircraft across different air forces. Vaidotas supported engine pass-off tests, resolved in-service engine performance faults through data analysis and engine performance modeling.

Currently, Vaidotas is working at Orbex as a Senior Assembly, Integration, and Test Engineer, starting from October 2022.

Vaidotas V. completed their secondary education at Panevėžys Juozas Balčikonis gymnasium from 2009 to 2013. After that, they went on to attend The University of Sheffield from 2013 to 2018, where they obtained a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Year in Industry. In addition to their formal education, Vaidotas also holds several certifications, including Day Skipper from the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) obtained in June 2021, Python Fundamentals from DataCamp obtained in January 2021, Competent Crew from RYA obtained in December 2020, Advanced Open Water Diver from PADI obtained in September 2017, and Open Water Diver from PADI obtained in May 2017.
