Gideon Smith

Gideon Smith has significant work experience in the finance and technology industries. Gideon is currently serving as the Head of Quant and Data Insights at Orbis Investments since January 2024. Prior to that, they held various roles at AXA Investment Managers, including Global Head of Equity Quant, CIO/Global Head of Portfolio Management, Europe CIO, Director of Client Service/Head of Portfolio Management, Portfolio Manager, and Investment Process Programmer. Gideon had comprehensive responsibilities in managing research, portfolio teams, integrating ESG, and overseeing equity funds. Before joining AXA, Gideon worked as a Software Developer at Avid Technology, where they contributed to the development and growth of the business through a trade sale. Gideon started their career as an Accountant at Arthur Andersen & Co., specializing in financial markets, mergers/acquisitions, and audits. Gideon's work experience spans from 1993 to the present day, showcasing their expertise across different industries and roles.

Gideon Smith completed an MBA at the London Business School in 1999-2000. Prior to that, they obtained a BSc in Computer Science from The University of Manchester in 1989-1992. Gideon'sadditional certifications include becoming a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) Charterholder from the CFA Institute in 2000, and completing various courses on machine learning and data analysis from Coursera and Stanford University between 1997 and 1998.
