Chris Elder

Chris Elder is a Senior Inspector at Oregon Tilth, where responsibilities include organic inspection of crops, processors, and livestock, as well as mentoring new inspectors, since January 2021. Previously, Chris served as a Certification Auditor, specializing in organic crop and processor inspections. Before joining Oregon Tilth, Chris worked as an Organic Certification Inspector from July 2016 to January 2021, conducting on-site inspections and audits for USDA Organic Standard compliance. Chris's extensive background includes a long tenure with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services from October 1990 to May 2019, where Chris managed the Gypsy Moth Program and served as a Plant Pest Specialist, focusing on pest exclusion and plant material movement. Chris holds a B.S. in Integrated Pest Management from North Carolina State University, earned between 1984 and 1989.
