Bernhard Kappe has over 30 years of experience in the technology, healthcare, and finance industries. In 1989, they began their career as a Financial Analyst at Merrill Lynch. Bernhard then worked as a Software Developer for the City of Seattle in 1994 and as a Contractor for Microsoft in 1995. In 1998, they founded Pathfinder Development, a consulting firm specializing in custom software development and user experience design. In 2010, they became an Organizer for the Chicago Lean Startup Circle and the Chicago Product Management Association. In 2011, they became the Founder and CEO of Orthogonal, a company that works with medical device firms to transform standalone medical devices into systems for improved health outcomes. Bernhard also served as the Executive Director of the Chicago Lean Startup Challenge in 2011 and as a Mentor for the Healthbox Accelerator in 2012.
Bernhard Kappe attended The Wharton School from 1983 to 1988, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics. Bernhard also attended the University of Pennsylvania from 1983 to 1988, where they earned a Master of Arts, Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor of Science in Economics, Mathematics, and Philosophy, respectively.
