James Varner has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and companies. James most recently served as the VP & Chief Information Security Officer at Oshkosh Corporation, starting in August 2022. Prior to this, they held various positions at Oshkosh Corporation, including Director, Information Security, Senior Manager, Information Security, and Manager, Information Security. Before joining Oshkosh Corporation, James worked as an Associate, IT Advisory at KPMG from July 2011 to February 2012. James also gained experience as an Engineering PC Support at Oshkosh Corporation from April 2010 to May 2011 and as part of IT Advisory at KPMG from August 2009 to December 2009. James began their career as a Level II Service Desk Technician at Pareo, Inc. in 2008.
James Varner completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Finance & International Business from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater from 2012 to 2014. James also obtained a Certificate in Leadership from the Evanta Professional Development Academy from 2014 to 2016. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Information Systems from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. In addition to their degrees, James Varner holds several certifications, including ITIL Foundations, Ceritifed Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)², GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) from GIAC, and GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) from GIAC.
