Dan Vorhaus

Dan Vorhaus has a long and varied career in legal and ethical research. Dan began their career in 2006 as a Law Clerk in the Environmental Enforcement Section of the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the Department of Justice. Dan then worked as an Adjunct Faculty in Environmental Law at Boston College in the same year. In 2007, they became an Attorney at Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson, P.A., where they advised genomics and biotechnology researchers, entrepreneurs, companies and investors on legal compliance and commercialization strategies. In 2008, they were the Secretary of PersonalGenomes.org, and in 2009 they became the Editor of the Genomics Law Report. In 2010, they became an ELSI Contributor for Genomes Unzipped, and from 2006-2013 they were an ELSI Advisor for the Harvard Medical School Personal Genome Project (PGP). In 2013, they joined McKinsey & Company as a Managing Counsel and Associate General Counsel. In 2022, they joined Ostro as General Counsel and Chief People Officer and also became a Charter Member at TechGC.

Dan Vorhaus obtained their JD from Harvard Law School in 2007, followed by an MA with Honors from Lancaster University in 2004, where they studied bioethics, genetic ethics, and philosophy. Dan also holds a BA and a BA (Summa Cum Laude) from Duke University, which they earned in 2003, and where they studied philosophy and computer science. Additionally, Dan has obtained the CIPP/US (Certified Information Privacy Professional) certification from the IAPP (International Association of Privacy Professionals).
