Joel Wickremasinghe

Joel Wickremasinghe has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Joel currently works at MDO as the Director of Engineering PMO, where they collaborate with the CTO's office to establish visibility and predictability with agile delivery teams. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Engineering for myDocs, myAdmin, and myTrust at MDO.

Joel has also held roles such as Senior Manager in Delivery at MDO, where they led a team and implemented agile practices, resulting in reduced production issues and consistent delivery. Joel worked as an Instructor at APPTRA Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd., delivering training in Sri Lanka.

Additionally, Joel has experience as a Project Manager at Axiata Digital Labs, where they implemented scrum processes for Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and AI projects. Joel served as a Visiting Lecturer for Cardiff Metropolitan MSc Program at ICBT Campus and as a Project Manager at Informatics International Limited, managing projects in the government sector and adhering to ISO and CMMI standards.

Joel's career began as an Operations Coordinator at Leapset, where they coordinated a prototype project and later launched a delivery management website. Joel also worked as a Sales Executive at Global Payments, acquiring new merchants for credit card machines and internet payment gateways.

Joel Wickremasinghe holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Project Management from Birmingham City University, which they obtained from 2018 to 2019. Prior to that, they completed a Post Graduate (Dip) in Business Management from the National School of Business Management in 2014-2015. Joel also has a Diploma in Business and Management from the Australian College of Business Technology, which they earned from 2007 to 2009. Joel completed their Advanced Level degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Stafford International School in 2004-2006 and their Ordinary Level degree from St. Joseph's College, Colombo 10, from 1993 to 2004. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained various certifications in project management, agile methodologies, software development life cycle, lean Six Sigma, and other relevant areas from institutions such as LinkedIn, Google Cloud Education, Scrum Alliance, CMMI, IBM, and Aveta Business Institute.
