Chief Genetic Genealogist at Othram

Carla Davis has over six years of experience in the field of genetic genealogy. In 2020, they began volunteering as a Genetic Genealogist for The DNA Detectives, where they educate members of their Facebook group on genetic genealogy techniques and assists adoptees and others with unknown parentage to identify their biological parents. In 2016, Davis founded DNA Davis®, providing leads to law enforcement to solve cold cases by merging DNA science with genealogical research, as well as The Family Connector, (re)connecting families®--one strand at a time. Most recently, in 2022, Davis became the Chief Genetic Genealogist at Othram Inc, the first private laboratory built to apply the power of modern parallel sequencing to forensic evidence.

Carla Davis has an extensive education history. In 2014, they completed a course in Integrative Nutrition from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. In 2016, they completed a course in Holistic Health from Purchase College, SUNY. In 2018, they obtained a Certificate in Genetic Genealogy from Excelsior University. In 2019, they obtained a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University. Carla is currently enrolled in Excelsior University, where they are pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts, which they expect to complete in 2023. In 2020, they obtained an Associate of Science in Liberal Arts, with high honors, from Excelsior University. Carla also has several certifications, including Genealogical Research Certificate, Genetic Genealogy, Integrative Nutrition Health Coach (INHC), B-School, Functional Medicine, BCRPA Group Fitness Instructor, BCRPA Fitness Theory & Exercise Physiology, Certified Health Coach, AFPA Certified Personal Trainer, and AFPA Certified Nutrition Consultant.
