OutdoorRx is building the infrastructure for a movement advancing health, recreation, and community wellbeing.

We believe time spent outdoors is one of the most accessible and underutilized tools for improving physical health, mental wellbeing, social connection, and quality of life. Yet despite growing evidence supporting the benefits of outdoor recreation and nature exposure, healthcare, recreation, research, and community systems often operate independently.

OutdoorRx exists to help bridge those systems.

Founded in Oregon, OutdoorRx convenes partners across healthcare, public health, parks and recreation, research institutions, nonprofits, philanthropy, and community organizations to develop the systems, infrastructure, tools, and strategies needed to make outdoor experiences a practical part of preventive health and wellbeing.

Our work focuses on advancing outdoor prescription pathways, provider referral tools, prescription-ready recreation programming, research and evaluation partnerships, and cross-sector collaboration that connects people to the health benefits of time spent outdoors.

We are working toward an Oregon where outdoor recreation is recognized as an essential component of community health infrastructure and where every person has meaningful access to the benefits of nature, movement, recreation, and connection.

By aligning research, communications, policy, and practice, OutdoorRx aims to accelerate a statewide movement that can serve as a model for communities across the country.

Together, we are helping more people get their Outdoor Dose.
