Ville Tuulos

Ville Tuulos has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning various roles and industries. Ville is currently the Co-Founder and CEO of Outerbounds, a role they have held since March 2021. Previously, they worked at Netflix, where they held positions including Manager of Machine Learning Infrastructure from June 2019 to March 2021 and Architect of Machine Learning Infrastructure from August 2017 to June 2019.

Before Netflix, Ville worked at AdRoll, where they held multiple roles, including Head of Data from June 2016 to August 2017 and Senior Principal Engineer from August 2015 to June 2016. In their role as Principal Engineer from June 2013 to July 2015, they led the first analytics team at AdRoll and played a key role in the development and operation of AdRoll Prospecting, a customer acquisition product based on PB-scale machine learning.

Prior to AdRoll, Ville was a Co-Founder of Bitdeli, a startup focused on building a scriptable data platform. As the CEO, they led the company from September 2011 to June 2013. Additionally, Ville worked at Nokia as a Research Team Lead, focusing on big data infrastructure, analytics, and machine learning from June 2010 to July 2011. Ville was also a Member of Research Staff at Nokia from September 2007 to June 2010, where they authored the open-source implementation MapReduce called Disco.

Earlier in their career, Ville co-founded Maybit from November 2006 to December 2008, and worked as a Researcher in the Complex Systems Computation Group at the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology from June 2004 to September 2007. Ville also served as an Intelligent Systems Specialist at Gurusoft Inc., a startup focused on commercializing self-organizing maps, from December 2000 to May 2004. Ville began their career as a Research Assistant at the University of Oulu from June 1998 to September 2000.
