Janet Walpole

Program Director, Greenpoint Outpatient Services at Outreach

Janet Walpole, LCSW, joined Outreach in December 2017 as Director of the Greenpoint, Brooklyn outpatient program, where she oversees adult and adolescent outpatient services, which are offered in English, Polish, and Spanish. She is also responsible for the programmatic oversight of Greenpoint’s ReStart Academy, an alternative high school program for young people transitioning back into the public school system following residential or community substance abuse treatment.

With more than 20 years’ experience providing services to underserved populations, Walpole has worked in the behavioral health field managing a wide array of services including substance use, mental health, HIV/AIDS, primary care, and homelessness. A dedicated non-profit executive who understands the community dynamic, she is committed to providing person-centered, evidence-based programming. Prior to joining Outreach, she was the Outpatient Clinic Director at Services for the Underserved (SUS), where she directed behavioral health care services and successfully launched the clinic’s first Consumer Advisory Board. In addition she served as administrative director for the clinic’s SAMHSA primary care integration grant.

Previously Walpole served as Compliance Officer and QI Director at Greenwich House in addition to overseeing outpatient mental health and substance abuse services. She also served as Risk Manager for a diverse portfolio of services including a Nursery school, a Pottery School, four NYC funded Senior Centers, a Children and Adolescent outpatient clinic, and an Opioid Treatment Program. She led initiatives to prepare the agency for managed care changes and served as staff trainer in the use of evidenced based practices.

Walpole earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from Rutgers University. She also has a certificate in graduate Social Work Field Instruction (SIFI).
