Feel like it is taking forever to clear out the home you inherited?

That’s because it is.

On average, it takes us 100 hours of working to clear a 4 bedroom home with an average amount of items.

100 hours.

And we don’t know the person.

So we don’t get slowed down by the serving platters your mom collected for big family dinners. We don’t get distracted by the old letters and family photos. We don’t agonize over which of meemaw’s cardigans to keep. We don’t worry about which of dad’s tools will be most useful.

We just sort and remove. Sort and remove.

And it still takes us 100 hours to get through everything.

If it took you twice as long, you are looking at 200 hours to get it done. That’s 100 sorting sessions at 2 hours each. Schedule 100 sorting sessions. How many can you handle a week? How much can your schedule stretch to accommodate the full time job of clearing the home?

Being realistic with your schedule and your stamina will let you know how long it will take. And if it takes a year (and you can absorb the cost and time of maintaining the house) then it takes a year.

You know yourself.

How long will it take you?
