Linton Johnson

Linton Johnson has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. Linton started their career at iHeartMedia as a Morning Show News Writer and Sidekick, where they served as a DeeJay and talk show host. Linton then worked as a reporter for KSNT Channel 27 & KTMJ Fox 43, where they covered general and breaking news assignments, and won their first journalism award for an investigative piece. Linton later joined KAKE as a reporter, before moving to KSDK - 5 On Your Side as a Reporter and Fill-in Anchor, where they performed live reporting on local issues and anchored the news as needed. Linton then joined NBC Bay Area - KNTV Channel 11 as a Primetime Weekend Anchor/Reporter, leading a team and delivering keynote speeches. Linton's next role was at BART, where they served as a Public Information Officer, Chief Spokesperson/Department Manager, and Strategic Programs Manager in the Office of External Affairs, overseeing programs and strategic messaging for the organization. Linton also played a role in the safe transition of employees to the workplace during the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, Linton is serving as a Founder of Ovis, a blockchain-based news startup dedicated to restoring public trust in the news, overseeing strategy and goal-setting for the successful launch of the company. Additionally, they are a Board Member at Northern California Public Media, a community-owned and operated media entity.

Linton Johnson attended Northwestern University from 1992 to 1995, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs. Prior to that, they studied at Oakwood University in 1991, but did not obtain a degree or major in any specific field. Linton also obtained a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Northwestern University at an unknown time. In terms of additional certifications, Linton received training in dealing with an angry public through the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School in 2007. Linton also obtained certifications in FEMA's Incident Command System (ICS 100, 200, 300, & 700) in 2016 and the National Incident Management System (NIMS 800) in 2005 from FEMA.
