Sam Merat

Sam Merat has held various roles in the technology industry, beginning with a Software Developer position at Omnilink Systems in 2008. Sam then moved to Microsoft in 2009, where they held the role of Software Development Engineer for both Windows Azure Storage and Microsoft. In 2014, they joined Facebook as a Software Engineer, and in 2021 they were appointed Chief Technology Officer and VP of Engineering at owl.co.

Sam Merat has a M.Sc. in Computing Science (Machine Learning) from the University of New Orleans, which they obtained in 2008. Sam also has a B.Sc. in Computing Science from Simon Fraser University, which they obtained in 2006. Sam has also obtained two certifications from Coursera: Principles of Reactive Programming in December 2013, and Functional Programming Principles in Scala in November 2013.
